WYONG JUNIOR NEWS UPDATE

At the recent Belmont Junior Classic tournament presentation Wyong were congratulated for their     " TEAM " approach to the event. We certainly stood out in our new touring squad attire sponsored by Wallarah 2 Coal Project.

Thirteen juniors took the journey on the bus, and thanks to Brad Glachan, driver and Leon Du Chateau for taking the time out to look after the team on the day. The touring team performed well and we were well represented at the trophy collection table with the following results: Jordi Garner 12yrs r/up scr ; Brent Dowling  15ys r/up nett ; Matt Kyle 16ys r/up nett ; Alex Pitty  17y r/up nett & Chris Grey also won Longest drive and a NTP 15yrs

A number of members have climbed on board the trailer sponsor concept and as you can see from the pictures the trailer looks great and is already a talking point by other clubs of how impressive it looks and excellent exposure for our Junior Development Program and the club.

We would like to thank; The Entrance Blue Light, NSW Golf Foundation, Aafjes Sand and Soil, K&C Styles P/L, Gosford Granite Kitchens, Berkley and Fishing Newcastle & Hunter Youth Development Trust.

The Juniors next bus trip is to Charlestown on the 4th July, followed by trips to Maitland and Castle Hill later in the year.

The clubs Junior Knockout is currently underway with the first round nearly complete.

Within the next two months we will have an Eric Apperly (under 23yrs) touring squad to tour with the juniors at selected tournaments and also to Newcastle and Sydney courses using the trailer. This will be a core group of under 23’s eligible to play Eric Apperly Shield, held in November each year. We made the semi-final this year and will be looking to go one better in the 2011 competition. Any interested members in assisting with this older group should contact Tony Newcombe, he will be looking for some players to travel with the group as mentors from time to time.
